Since 2006 Barbara Lüthi reports from China for the National Swiss Television. She is often pushing the limits of what is tolerated in communist China. Courageously, directly and brave, which is not harmless in China, she brings stories, which are hard to find anywhere else.
2008 Barbara Lüthi was honored by CNN. She won the “CNN" Journalist Award for a report about expropriated farmers in China. Further she was selected for the CNN Award “Journalist of the year” for her overall reporting from China.
After her languages studies in Sydney, the Zurich-born journalist began her career with her own talk show at the private TV station Star TV. Then she became a video journalist at TV3 for current news.
2001 Barbara Lüthi started to work for the political and economical program "Rundschau".
2005 she won the "CNN journalist Award" for the first time for the report "toy factory" about the working conditions in Chinese toy factories. Also 2005 she was distinguished for a report about child trade at the Greek-Albanian border.
Barbara Lüthi was born 1973 in Zürich and lives currently in Beijing.
