As the first German Wimbledon champion, Boris Becker was at the same time the youngest winner of a Grand Slam tournament.
With Becker as leader, in 1988 a German team won the Davis Cup for the first time. He first took the lead in the world tennis rankings in 1991 with his victory in the Australian Open. In 1992 he won Olympic gold in the doubles with partner Michael Stich. Boris Becker has thrilled the sporting world for many years.
